On Writing for अन्वय ANVAYA

अन्वय ANVAYA advocates for writing that stems from sustained engagement, discipline, and profound practice. The magazine prioritises reflection over immediacy and seriousness over volume. Submissions are assessed not for topical relevance or opinion, but for clarity of thought, inward attentiveness, and coherence of form.

Contributing to अन्वय ANVAYA is not merely an act of contribution but one of alignment. Contributors are expected to approach their subject with patience, ethical seriousness, and respect for complexity.

Who May Write

Submissions are requested from individuals with at least five years of dedicated professional, scholarly, or creative engagement within their respective fields. This encompasses practitioners, scholars, physicians, jurists, policy experts, philosophers, poets, artists, and public intellectuals whose work exhibits ongoing commitment and responsibility cultivated over time.

At present, submissions from students or early-career contributors are not considered.

Areas of Writing

Submissions are considered in accordance with the five sections of the magazine:

देहविद्या  Deha Vidya

This section focuses on writing concerning embodiment, health, healing, and lived bodily experience. It invites reflective contributions that engage with Ayurveda, holistic wellness traditions, yoga, integrative healing practices, and long-term medical or therapeutic engagement. Submissions should be rooted in practice, observation, and experience rather than in prescription, instruction, or advocacy.

न्याय Nyaya

Reflective writing concerning law, justice, ethics, institutional life, and moral judgement is approached with restraint and clarity, rather than through polemic or commentary.

राज्य Rajya

Writing on politics, power, governance, and collective order that resists immediacy and spectacle, favouring depth, distance, and continuity.

दर्शन Darshan

Philosophical reflection on the concepts of meaning, relation, form, and understanding is articulated with patience, inward attentiveness, and conceptual care.

रस Rasa

Poetry and lyrical writing should be attentive to form, rhythm, restraint, and sensibility. Excess, sentimentality, or performative expression are discouraged. Submissions are encouraged to be reflective rather than argumentative.

Opinion pieces, reactionary commentary, advocacy-driven writing, or polemics are not considered.

Form, Length, and Presentation

  1. Essays should be between 1,000 and 2,000 words.
  2. Poetry submissions may include up to three poems or one extended poem.
  3. Submissions must be typed in a standard, readable font such as Times New Roman or Garamond, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing.
  4. Pages should be numbered and devoid of decorative or stylistic formatting.
  5. Submissions must be sent as Word (.doc or .docx) without password protection.

Contributor Details

All submissions are required to explicitly include at the conclusion of the document the following information:

– Full name of the contributor

– Professional designation

– Institutional or organizational affiliation, where applicable Contact  and email address

Submissions lacking complete contributor details may not be considered.

Originality, Exclusivity, and Ethical Conduct

All submissions must be original, unpublished, and non-plagiarised. Simultaneous submissions are not accepted. The same article, essay, or poem must not be submitted to any other magazine, journal, or publication while under consideration by अन्वय ANVAYA.

By submitting work, contributors affirm that the submission is exclusive and not under review or accepted elsewhere. Any form of plagiarism, including unacknowledged borrowing, close paraphrasing, or prior publication in print or digital form, will result in immediate rejection. Submissions should be free from hate speech, abusive language, or derogatory content directed toward individuals or communities. The magazine upholds ethical standards of seriousness, restraint, and respect in all published work.

Editorial Review, Discretion, and Response

Submissions are examined meticulously and thoughtfully.

To uphold clarity, coherence, and adherence to the editorial standards of अन्वय ANVAYA, the Editor reserves the right to implement minor edits, refinements, or adjustments to accepted submissions, including modifications to language, structure, or specific sections of the text, as necessary for publication. Such alterations are solely intended to present the work in its optimal form without modifying its substantive meaning.

Final editorial judgments are at the discretion of the Editor.

If authors do not receive a response within two months of submission, they should consider the submission as not accepted. Due to the nature of the editorial process, individualised feedback may not always be feasible. Silence should not be construed as discourtesy but rather as part of the selective review process.

Currently, अन्वय ANVAYA does not offer monetary compensation for contributions.
